Forest Schools

Forest Schools – An Inspirational Process

The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire our pupils through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment.  Forest schools aims to give pupils:

  • Confidence: have the time and space to learn and demonstrate independence
  • Social skills:  gain increased awareness of the consequences of their actions on peers through team building activities
  • Communication skills: language development is improved by sensory experiences
  • Motivation: develop a keenness to participate and the ability to concentrate over longer periods of time
  • Physical skills: improvements in physical stamina and gross and fine motor skills
  • Knowledge and understanding: developing an interest in the natural surroundings and respect for the environment
